A Night to Remember John Toland (MMA '86)

John Toland who passed away suddenly early Christmas morning, leaves behind his wife Mary and their four children: Owen (13), Brendan (12), Andrew (10) and Helen (8). We are all deeply saddened by the sudden passing of John and in his spirit want to help with the family’s financial need. In loving memory of Lisa Welby Gusmini

Gusmini-Welby, Lisa of Holliston, formerly of Quincy by accident on February 1, 2013, she was 48. Loving mother of Dominic J. Gusmini and Christopher P. Gusmini both of Holliston. Beloved life partner of Michael W. Kretowciz of Watertown. Devoted daughter of Ruth M. Welby of Quincy and the late Edward J. Welby. Loving sister of Linda M. Bunn and her husband Austin, Jean M. Peugh and her husband Colin, Joan M. Gillespie and her husband Donald, Edward A. Welby and his wife Karyn and Joseph E. Welby and his wife Alicia. Lisa is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Lisa loved the sun, ocean, her dogs Abby and Roxie and living life to its fullest. A graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy Class of 1986 and Laboure School of Nursing Class of 2006. Lisa was chosen alumnus of the year 2012 for Massachusettes Maritime as well as 2012 Nurse of the year at Milford Regional Medical Center.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 am on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10am.

Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery.

Ring Dance-Asking Global MMA Alumni for sea water

Dear MMA alumni,

I suspect that you all have fond memories of your MMA ring dance. Over the years it had morphed into a senior class party, held long after the rings were purchased and disconnected from any particular ceremony but more recently it has returned to the old tradition - a celebration of getting your MMA ring in the spring of your 2/c year, just prior to the Regimental Change of Command. In keeping with the old traditions, this year's 2/c cadets would like to dip their rings in "the waters of the seven seas".

They have asked me to ask MMA alumni to send small amounts of water from the many places that they now work and live so that it can be mingled in a bowl placed at each table. During the evening, each member of the Class of 2014 will christen their brand new MMA ring in water that represents the many places around the globe where there are currently MMA Alumni.
